I have
been a Professional Freelance Photographer , on and off, for over 15 years.
I currently work in the
marketing field as a Promoter, Photographer, and Web Decorator/Coordinator for Albany County, a
Photographer for musicians {both
local and national}, and as
a Concert/Events Photographer for a local radio station.
I received my Associates Degree in Liberal Arts, with an
emphasis in Photography, from Hudson Valley Community College. I also attended
Marist College for Communications: Radio, TV, Film, and later when on to receive
another degree from the International Correspondence School for Interior
Decorating, in the 1990's.
My
knowledge of decorating and design has further enhanced my photographic eye, as
it pertains to the usage of light, color, scale, dimension, balance, and
staging. I am a picture person. I have countless stacks of magazines,
mostly decorating, piled high. I am not one to mimic photos I've seen, however,
in a magazine, or elsewhere. I seem to be naturally programmed to see a shot and
snap it, rather than try to create or mimic a shot. I am the type of
photographer that sees your good side and knows just when to 'shoot' you, rather
than the type of photographer that has ideas of poses before he/she ever lays an
eye upon you. Neither style is better or worse, just different, and choosing
your photographer depends on these types of differences. It is just a matter of
your particular needs. Do your research and find the style that fits best for
you.
I tend to shy away from staging,
because I believe that
a portrait should capture a person's soul. Doing that is more effective
when they are unaware that they are being photographed, or when they are in an
environment that brings out something within them. To accomplish this,
I have been known to secretly follow my 'targets' around like an invisible
paparazzo to get the perfect
shot.
I have
also shied away from wedding photography in the past, because it often involves a lot of
staging. For the couples that prefer a more alternative-style collection of
wedding photographs...I am your photographer. There will be minimal staging and
minimal disruption from me. I believe your wedding photos
should capture your monumental day and should serve as keepsakes to remind you
of your once-in-a-lifetime experience. Weddings are very emotional and beautiful
(my two favorite things to capture), and your
wedding album should contain images that completely captured those emotions and
the events that actually happened, so that years from now, you can view your
photos and feel those emotions all over again; not look back at a photo of a
fake smile and remember how someone told you to pose. But again, please
remember, this is a matter of preference, and this is only my opinion and type
of style.
Photography is a quiet knowing and anticipation of a
special moment, combined with each photographer's unique ability to capture that
moment. My strengths are in my ability to be quick and my eye for
emotion. I don't shoot thousands of shots hoping to get some good ones, I wait
for the shot. I will provide
you with high-quality, stunning photographs, simply because I love to create
them.
